In the wild card game, the Winnipeg Elmwood Giants dispatched the Winnipeg Jean Beliveau Barracudas 67-61.

In the quarterfinals, held in Stonewall, the top-seeded Swan River Swan Valley Tigers defeated the 8th-seeded Thompson R.D. Parker Trojans 78-41 as Dale Burton scored 21, while nabbing 10 boards, Tim Gabriel 12, John Deneer 10 and Aaron Petterson 11, while nabbing 11 boards.

        The 4th-seeded Stonewall Rams whipped the 5th-seeded University of Winnipeg Collegiate Wesmen 78-41 as Ryan Georgison scored 29 and Andrew Johnson 16, including four from beyond the arc, Russell Schwartz 9, Matt Scrutton 5, Trevor Fotty 5, Geoff Roth 4, Matt Stuart 3, Mark Sokoliuk 2 and Kris Assels 2. The Rams led 34-24 at the half. Kelsey Gray led the Wesmen with 30.

        The 3rd-seeded Winnipeg St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles clipped the 6th-seeded St. Norbert Celtics 77-61. The Celtics included Che Williams.

        In the last quarterfinal, the 2nd-seeded Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs dumped the 7th-seeded Winnipeg Elmwood Giants 75-61.

        In the semis, the 2nd-seeded Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs defeated the 3rd-seeded Winnipeg St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles 83-74.

        In the other semi, the top-seeded Swan River Swan Valley Tigers defeated the 4th-seeded Stonewall Rams 82-65 as Dale Burton scored 23, Dan Andres 22, along with 16 boards, and John Deer 12, while Eric Tereski had 11 steals and 10 assists. The Tigers led 42-25 at the half. Russell Schwartz led the Rams with 25. Andrew Johnson added 14 on four treys, Ryan Georgison 10, Trevor Fotty 7, Kris Assels 4, Matt Stuart 3 and Matt Scrutton 2.

        In the bronze medal match, the 4th-seeded Stonewall Rams edged the 3rd-seeded Winnipeg St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles 61-56 as Russell Schwartz scored 12, Andrew Johnson 10 and Kris Assets 10. Tyson Jones paced the Eagles with 26. The Rams led 30-27 at the half. The Rams were without sharpshooter Garrett Sheasgreen, who was recovering from surgery after his lung collapsed from pneumonia. The Eagles (coached by J Danis, assisted by Turner) also included Brendan O’Beirne, Sean Kersey, David Boyd, Garry Sandhu, Josh Manusow, Mason Hecky, Matthew Loewen, Ross Cooper, Carey Lai, Alex To and Matthew Grynol.

        In the final, the top-seeded Swan River Swan Valley Tigers defeated the 2nd-seeded Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs 71-61 as Dan Andres scored 27, while nabbing 22 boards, John Deneer 14 and Tim Gabriel 10. John Friesen led the Zodiacs with 15. Steve Dueck added 12. The Tigers rallied from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter. “A lot of teams would have crumbled, but we shewed a lot of character by coming back,” Tigers coach Duane Whyte told the Swan River Star and Times. “Assistant coach Kevin Carter did a lot of work on breaking the press, and when they came, we were ready for it.” The Tigers finished (27-1) on the season, winning their last 21 games. “We had another team that went 30-1, but I don’t like to compare teams,” said Whyte. “I will say this team was close, they supported each other a lot.”
