Taylor Schmidt nabbed 18 boards. “Leon had a career game for us against Virden,” Clippers coach Cam Bennett told the Dauphin Herald. “He was unstoppable in that game.” Taylor Schmidt added 18 and 11 boards. The Golden Bears (coached by Eugene Enns) also included Clark Andres, Jayare Gardiner, Matt Enns, Hugh Henderson, Chris Marcombe, Kent Gabrielle, Corey Morcombe.

In the quarterfinals, the 3rd-seeded Winnipeg St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles dusted the 6th-seeded Winnipeg St. James Jimmies 72-54.

        The top-seeded Winnipeg Elmwood Giants dispatched the 8th-seeded The Pas Margaret Barbour Spartans 70-63. The Spartans included Darcy Hanchuk.

        The 4th-seeded Winnipeg Westgate Mennonite Wings edged the 5th-seeded Dauphin Clippers 62-59. Clippers coach Cam Bennett told the Dauphin Herald that his troops made a host of miscues. “We spotted them points and had to play catchup. We were just making a lot of mental errors and they scored most of their hoops off our mistakes. We came back in the end and we still had a chance to win at the buzzer. We got a shot off at the buzzer but missed.” Vinny Strilchuk led the Clippers with 26. The Clippers (coached by Cam Bennet) also included Clark Andres, Leon Bergen, Taylor Schmidt, Dan Sorochynski, Dan Sorochynski, Tyler Kaminski, Troy Stozek, Travis Kaminski.

        In the last quarterfinal, the 2nd-seeded Winnipeg Churchill Bulldogs whipped the 7th-seeded Winnipeg Windsor Park Royals 98-78.

        In the semis, the 3rd-seeded Winnipeg St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles dusted the 2nd-seeded Winnipeg Churchill Bulldogs 92-71.

        In the other semi, the top-seeded Winnipeg Elmwood Giants clipped the 4th-seeded Winnipeg Westgate Mennonite Wings 66-60.

        In the bronze medal match, the 2nd-seeded Winnipeg Churchill Bulldogs dumped the 4th-seeded Winnipeg Westgate Mennonite Wings 78-67. The Wings included David Wiebe, Stephen Enns.

In the final, the 3rd-seeded Winnipeg St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles nipped the top-seeded Winnipeg Elmwood Giants 68-65 to complete a boys-girls double at the AAA level. “It was an historical achievement,” said Eagles coach Henry Verbeek. “Both teams from the same school winning the provincial title is a rare achievement. SJR won both back in the 1993-94 season.” Winkler Zodiacs also did it in 1991-92. “This win was different from our previous championship,” Verbeek said. “In ’93 we won using the inside game but this year we had to go to our outside game.” Verbeek said the difference was the defence of Kyle Davis and Rob Leggett, who kept Elmwood’s all-star Bernard Guitap off the scoreboard in the second half.
