In the quarterfinals, held at Churchill High in Winnipeg, the 6th-seeded St. Norbert Celtics defeated the 3rd-seeded Dauphin Clippers 76-69. The Clippers (coached by Cam Bennett) included Tannin Schmidt; Mike Penner, Rob Hyman, Brian Hrehirchuk, Chelsey Mark, Vinnie Strilchuk, Joe Christianson, Trevor Sytnick, Ben Andres, Jay Goran, Dan Eilers and Taylor Schmidt.
The 2nd-seeded Portage la Prairie Arthur Meighen Squires dumped the 7th-seeded Winnipeg Churchill Bulldogs 75-56.
The top-seeded Swan River Swan Valley Tigers dumped the 8th-seeded Thompson R.D. Parker Trojans 65-56 as Rob Coder scored 16.
In the last quarterfinal, the 4th-seeded Winnipeg St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles dispatched the 5th-seeded Winnipeg College Beliveau les Barracudas 75-63.
In the semi, the top-seeded Swan River Swan Valley Tigers whipped the 4th-seeded Winnipeg St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles 90-65.
In the other semi, 2nd-seeded Portage La Prairie Arthur Meighen Saints pounded the 6th-seeded St. Norbert Celtics 65-44.
In the bronze medal match, the 6th-seeded St. Norbert Celtics clocked the 4th-seeded Winnipeg St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles 74-48. The Eagles (coached by Henry Verbeek, assisted by Mark Duncan and Mitul Kotechka) included Neal Cooper.
In the final, the top-seeded Swan River Swan Valley Tigers dispatched the 2nd-seeded Portage La Prairie Arthur Meighen Saints 59-51 to capture the title for the second consecutive campaign. The Tigers finished (29-1) on the season, often playing against larger schools. “The 4A competition helped especially in the final. I really believe the 4A competition helped us handle the pressure better,” Tigers coach Duane Whyte told the Swan Valley Star and Times. “At the provincials, it was nice to see 14 young men, two managers and three coaches getting along. This is one of the hardest working teams we’ve had.” Guard Tim Highmoore said “it was nice to see the whole team involved, everyone who played, the coaches, manager, parents, and everyone who helped out.” The Tigers went on an 8-0 run in the final two minutes to pull out the win.
