In the quarterfinals, the Winnipeg Sisler Spartans thrashed the Dauphin Clippers 84-38 as Gerry Boehm scored 33, Gary Filmon 15, Mick Trusewych 12, Bill Dolhun 11 and Steve Yemec 10. The Spartans led 22-6, 41-14 and 63-28 at the quarters. John Lesyshen led the Clippers with 9. The Clippers (coached by B.F. Squair) also included Dave Mazure, Hartley Brown, Jim Sigvaldson, Jim McMillan, Alb Petersen, Bill Holowenko, Rich Kuroaba, Warren Fordyce and Harry Sutcliffe.

        The Brandon Collegiate Blues dumped the Flin Flon Hapnot Kopper Kings 53-46 after leading 2-18 at the half. Don Cornell led the Blues with 17. Bob Cuddington added 10 and Don MacFarlane 10. Kopper Kings coach Bob Rheaume benched starters Jackie Holmes and Bob Walker for the game, leaving him with five players after Al Mills and Brian Patterson fouled out. Don Gillespie led the Kopper Kings with 16. Don Elkhart added 10. The Kopper Kings (coached by Rheaume) also included Ernie Kepper, Doug Donald, Dennis Bollard, Tom Wilson and Chummy Plummer.

        The Winnipeg St. Paul’s Crusaders clocked the Selkirk Lord Selkirk Regional Royals 79-23 as Dennis Long scored 21, Bill Ryan 14 and Ray Yost 11. Steve Sopher led the Royals with 6. John deGroot added 5. The Royals also included Gerald Babaluk, Gary Keen.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Winnipeg St. James Jimmies clipped the Morris Red Hawks 66-55 as Howie McMillan scored 17, Herb Cooper 15 and Roy Dakulak 12, including 10 in the third quarter. The Jimmies hit 30-105 from the floor. Hugh Johnson led the Red Hawks with 25. Cam Remple added 10. Bill Buhr and Fred Nicholson fouled out for the Red Hawks, who led 32-30 at the half.

In the semis, the Winnipeg Sisler Spartans dumped Brandon Collegiate Blues 83-45 as Gerry Boehm scored 25, Bill Dolhun 19, Steve Yemec 15 and Nick Trusewych 14. Blues star Bob Cuddington scored 15 before fouling out early in the second half. Wayne Boyn added 9.

In the other semi, the Winnipeg St. James Jimmies defeated the Winnipeg St. Paul’s Crusaders 69-52 as Howie McMillan scored 22 and Herb Cooper 19. Dennis Long paced the Crusaders with 19. Bill Ryan added 11. The Crusaders cut a 29-point lead to 12 on the shooting of Long but the rally fizzled when Long fouled out. The Jimmies led 17-9, 36-16 and 53-24 at the quarters. The Jimmies hit 28-77 from the floor, while the Crusaders were 19-73.

In the final, the Winnipeg Sisler Spartans defeated the Winnipeg St. James Jimmies 75-55. St. James appeared to be in control early leading 16-9 in the first quarter but the Spartans roared back to take a 31-28 halftime lead on the perimeter shooting of Gary Filmon. In the third quarter, Gerry Boehm hit four straight field goals to key a Sisler run that put the game out of reach. Boehm scored 84 points in Sisler’s three contests including 26 in the final. Steve Yemec added 19 and Gary Filmon 13. Howie McMillan scored 19 and Herb Cooper 10 before fouling out for St. James. Post Bob Buckberrough also fouled out for the Jimmies, as did Gerry Pakulak. The Spartans hit 12-36 from the floor and 35-53 from the line. The Jimmies hit 21-83 from the floor and 9-20 from the line.
