The kids have to learn how to handle the pressures of life. I’m more depressed than the kids about our loss.” Destreich said the Sinners “really didn’t pressure us that much throughout the game. They tried to halfcourt us, then they tried to zone defence us but they got down so much, nothing worked for them.” Jamieson pilfered the ball for a runout to give the Sinners a 64-63 lead. Later, Nikki Cox hit two free throws to draw Pleasant Valley within 74-72. …………………………………………………… The Prince George Duchess Park Condorettes clipped the West Vancouver Sentinel Spartans 68-55 as Jackie Richards scored 15, Kirstin Johns 14 and Marie Kelepouris 14. The Panthers led 11-10 after one quarter as Maroon Dawn Collins picked up three quick fouls. Maroons coach Jack Fulton told the Vernon Morning Star that “we usually have foul trouble by our guards, not our forwards. I had players who finished the game with four fouls each. In our future games, we will to definitely stay out of foul trouble. It should get better from here on in. We were really tense.” The Maroons led 28-25 at the half. Haaf said “the girls were really nervous.” Collins said “I think I was just too tight. I wanted to play aggressively out there and maybe I tried a little too hard.” The Maroons took command in the fourth quarter when Shannon Henke hit four free throws. Natasha Eipot paced the Panthers with 12. Willow Cassidy added 10. The Panthers (coached by Marg Matcalfe) also included Jolane Hook, Lesley Lutes. They have two really good players and about five very good players, so they’re hard to stop.” Kirsten Johns led the Condorettes with 23. Maria Kelepouris added 13 but Erricson said defensive player of the tournament Jackie Richards “held one their top scorers, Carrie Ann Butterworth, last year’s MVP, to eight points, so she did a really good job on her. Their other big girl, Heidi Phillips, the girl from Cranbrook that wasn’t allowed to play in the zone, well there was an injunction that allowed her to play, and she had 27 points, so she really hurt us.” Lambrick Park was plagued by recruiting allegations all season.

We just started playing our game – speed, and our tempo.” Vesna Belicic paced the Maroons with 18. The Maroons (coached by Jack Smith) included Dawn Collins, Sharla Schwartz, Joanna Haaf, Shannon Henke, Hilary Beck. Smith told the Vernon Morning Star “we started to get in foul trouble again but this time, it didnd’t happen quite as fast. … They were beating our zone defence. They also had good perimeter shooters.” Schwartz said “(Moe’s) good. They pass the ball around a lot and our passes were off. We weren’t used to playing at that pace.”
