In the last quarterfinal, the Langley R.E. Mountain Eagles nipped the Revelstoke Avalanche 27-26 in overtime as Gayle Good scored 13. Heather Graham led the Avalache with 6. The Avalanche also included Shona Imlah. The score was knotted at 50 after regulation.
In the semis, the Kelowna K.L.O. Cougars dispatched the Lumby Charles Bloom Timberwolves 40-33.
In the other semi, the Aldergrove Totems clipped the Langley R.E. Mountain Eagles 43-31 as Leah Ellis scored 11. Terrie Goett led the Eagles with 16.
In the bronze medal match, the Langley R.E. Mountain Eagles defeated the Lumby Charles Bloom Timberwolves 28-27 as Gayle Good scored 14. Eagles coach Bruce Ivay told the Langley Advance that “the win was certainly rewarding. … So many things can go wrong, injuries, poor play. We are pleased with our result.” Zofia Jarosinski led the Timberwolves with 8.
In the final, the Kelowna K.L.O. Cougars nipped the Aldergrove Totems 41-40. Aldergrove took a 12-10 lead after the opening quarter and led 24-22 at the half. But Kelowna inched back ahead 33-32 at the three-quarter mark as they ended the period with a 4-0 run. Aldergrove responded by taking a three-point lead early in the fourth quarter but KLO rallied back to grab the lead. Aldergrove threw the ball away with six seconds to go in the contest and failed to get off a shot which might have tied the game and sent it into overtime. Kelowna KLO was led by Terri Goett’s 15 points, while tourney MVP Eminia Russo, who later became a national team volleyball player, added 12. Aldergrove was paced by Loretta Well and Sharon Sturmey, with 10 points apiece.
