It marked the Storm’s first provincial medal. “It’s always good to finish on a positive,” Southridge coach Steve Anderson said. “We had a good opportunity to make it to the finals – we played well enough to win – but it just didn’t happen for us. The guys definitely showed a lot of resilience though. It’s tough to come back after a loss like that, but they did and they did a helluva job at it, too. They deserve a lot of credit.” Anderson added that Avi Dhaliwal “was outstanding for us. For the majority of the tournament he had to guard the opposition’s top offensive player, and he still averaged about 20 points for us. I have no idea how he was not named to one of those teams – he was robbed. We had three all-stars.” The Storm found themselves down 11 points in the fourth quarter, but methodically cut into the lead as the clock ticked down, and found themselves down just one point with 17 seconds left.
