Lambrick got the fast start behind some hot perimeter shooting by 6’4” senior Tyler Christianson.

In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded Ladysmith 49ers nipped the Kamloops Sa-Hali Sabres 50-49. The score was knotted at 20 at the half. In a classic semi-final matchup, the Ladysmith 49ers got a three-pointer on the buzzer from Ben Chadwick to disappoint a huge pro-Sa-Hali Sabre crowd 51-50. Ironically it was the only points Chadwick had in the game. In fact, it was basically the Sa-Hali Sabres vs. team Spencer Fyfe-Wilson. Fyfe-Wilson a husky, 6’4” with sky-high jumping ability, sizzled for 38 points despite matching up much of the game with 6’7” Sa-Hali star Brendan Smith. For Sa-Hali the loss was the ultimate in frustration as they used the final seconds to keep the ball away from Fyfe-Wilson, only to have Chadwick find nothing but net from the top of the key. Ladysmith led 9-6 at the quarter and the game was tied 20-20 at the half, with Sa-Hali pulling ahead 36-35 in the third quarter without Smith on the bench for much of the quarter after taking his third foul early in the second half. Sa-Hali led 48-42 with barely two minutes remaining as Ladysmith desperately rallied to salvage their season. Spencer Fyfe-Wilson paced Ladysmith with 38. The 49ers were determined to bounce back from a loss in the 2006 finals, said coach Randy Steel. “It’s tough to lose that final, It’s the toughest game to lose. The other games don’t mean quite as much. They were the team that lost it last year. I’m happy for this group. They had that feeling of losing that final last year and they got back their game and got the job done. I’m really quite happy for this group.” Steel added that his troops did an excellent job of replacing Dylan Borgerson, who fouled out in the fourth quarter. “The other fellas stepped right up in overtime. They kind of held together and played very well.” Josh Ready had forced overtime for the Lions with a trey at the buzzer that knotted the score at 47. But Spencer Fyfe-Wilson hit six critical points for the 49ers in the extra session.
