In the quarterfinals, held in Grand Forks for schools with less than 200 boys enrolled, the Vanderhoof Nechako Valley Vikings defeated the Vancouver St. Patrick’s Celtics 57-48. The Celtics included Kevin Kierans.
The Invermere David Thompson Lakers pounded the Hazelton Spartans 57-40. The Spartans (coached by Marice LeLacheur) included Randy Coombs, Harry Simpson, Randy Stephens, Tony Gawa, Max Stevens, Dave West.
The Grand Forks Wolves whipped Lillooet 67-39. Lillooet included Martin (Malcolm?) Cameron, Richard Zieglen.
In the last quarterfinal, the Chemainus Cougars dispatched the Summerland Rockets 50-37 as Mike Roy scored 14 and Scotty Thompson 13.
In the semis, the Invermere David Thompson Lakers dumped the Vanderhoof Nechako Valley Vikings 66-52.
In the other semi, the Grand Forks Wolves dispatched the Chemainus Cougars 46-37 as Ed Kinakin scored 15, while Brian Strukoff nabbed 28 boards. Paul Krymuss paced the Cougars with 12.
In the bronze medal match, the Vanderhoof Nechako Valley Vikings edged the Chemainus Cougars (then the Timbermen) 55-54 as Bill Worthington scored 16. Jerry Bowen paced the Cougars with 16. The Cougars (coached by J.T. Mitchell, manager Keith Heydon, manager Terry Petra) also include Mike Roy, Dan Whitelaw, Gordon Thomson, Dale Irving, Ted Valleau, Paul Krymusa, Brian Allen, Lorne Bloom and Ron King.
In the final, the Grand Forks Wolves captured its second consecutive title by whipping Invermere David Thompson Lakers 48-46 as Ed Kinakin notched an and-one with a minute to play, while the Lakers were leading 46-44. Brian Strukoff paced the Wolves with 19. Kinakin added 10. Ivor Larsen led the Lakers with 12.
