The Toronto St. Michael’s Blue Raiders edged Sudbury St. Charles 62-59.
In the last quarterfinal, the Kitchener St. Jerome’s Lions downed the Hamilton Cathedral Gaels 51-44. The Gaels (coach Dick Tighe) included Frank Cosentino, Nick Villani, Paul Roberts, Paul King, Gary Groleau, Frank Carney, Jim Maga, Agro, Meco Poliziani and Clarke.
In the semis, the Welland Notre Dame Fighting Irish dumped the Kitchener St. Jerome’s Lions 66-56.
In the other semi, the London Catholic Central Crusaders, which had received a bye to the semis, defeated the Toronto St. Michael’s Blue Raiders 63-55.
In the final, the Welland Notre Dame Fighting Irish thrashed the London Catholic Central Crusaders 67-55 as Steve Kerbo scored 19. Notre Dame led by 16 at the half and withstood a furious London rally before pulling away down the stretch. Pat Molloy paced London with 11.
