He’s a captain. He’s a leader and I would expect to do better. (Spent most of the second half on the end of the bench). … It’s probably the worst game we’ve played all year. I was so disappointed. The Trojans trailed 23-19 at the half and their offence collapsed when point guard John Gore suffered an ankle injury. …………………………………………………… The 13th-seeded Ernestown Eagles upset the 7th-seeded Toronto Runnymede Redmen 53-36 as Donnie Gibson scored 18, Aaron Doornekamp 12, Dave Snyder 9 and Dieter Stevens 8. Donnie was an effective scorer all game, scoring from all four panels, and Aaron did a fantastic job of controlling the ball against the press, Dieter Stevens gave us big minutes off the bench and eight points. Those two things were kind of our Achilles heel all year.” Both Yank and Gore fouled out for the Trojans. The Trojans (coached by Larry Tougas, assisted by Dan Coutu) also included Doyle Anthony, Gerry Dupelle, Adam Despres, Devin Giroux, Daniel Jenner and Nick Zinck. ………………………………………………… The top-seeded Scarborough Blessed Mother Teresa Titans defeated the 16th-seeded Oshawa G.L.         The unseeded Ernestown Eagles stunned the 2nd-seeded Windsor Assumption Purple Raiders 44-39. Coach Tom Turnbull said his Eagles were determined to prove that they deserved to have been seeded. Donnie Gibson paced the Eagles with 19. Ernestown led 17-8 after one quarter, 25-13 at the half and by at least five for the remainder of the contest. Turnbull told the Kingston Whig-Standard that Gibson’s defence was phenomenal. “The job he did defensively on [Assumption forward] John Murdock was unbelievable. I mean this Murdock scores half of his team’s points in the previous game and Donnie plays him straight up without any help and holds him to seven points – and scores 19 himself. Aaron [Doornekamp] and Dave [Snyder] are playing such great defence and Aaron controlling the ball, guys stepping up … Everything’s working well. We just have to keep it going.” Mike Harrington paced Assumption with 13. The Purple Raiders (coached by Paul Levac) also included Liam Murdock, Jeff Girard, Noah VanDenDriesche.

He controlled the game and controlled the tempo perfectly.” Desjardins added that the Rebelles reserves played a large role in capturing the silver medal. “We had great help off the bench. We always seemed to have a couple of kids who came one and gave us good minutes, get a steal for a layup or make a big play.” The Rebelles led 14-10, 22-14 and 34-23 at the quarters. The Eagles rallied to within five in the final frame. Donnie Gibson led the Eagles with 11. Paul Paudyn added 10, Dave Snyder 6 and Aaron Doornekamp 6. Although disappointed by the loss, the Rebelles were elated to have captured the silver medal, he added. “Considering the ups and downs we’ve had all year, we had a great finish. We’re very pleased. I don’t consider it as losing the gold. I consider it as winning the silver.” Alex Ethier and Mohammed Daud paced Riel with 14 points apiece in the final. Centre Leonel Saintil added 9, along with 10 boards, Abdou Aden 8 and Leonil Santil 5. Ethier rallied Riel to within 10 and then Aden added a bucket to cut the margin to eight but Sobers quelled the bleeding with a trey with 3:14 to play.
