In the semis, the 4th-seeded Windsor St. Joseph’s Lasers stunned the top-seeded Timmins HVS Blues 53-47 as Tom Prskalo scored 17 including a critical trey down the stretch. “After that, they had to foul us to get the ball back and we went six-for-six from the free throw line to ice it,” assistant coach Nello Paolini told the Windsor Star. “We played strong defence in the fourth quarter, held them to seven points and took the game away from them at that point.” The Lasers led 21-10 after the first quarter, 35-27 at halftime and the teams were tied 40-40 after three quarters. John Naccarato added 11 for the Lasers. Jon Kriener paced the Blues with 17.

In the other semi, the 3rd-seeded Barrie North Collegiate Institute Vikings dispatched Cornwall Ecole Catholique La Citadelle Patriots x-x. The Patriots included Hendrick Parisien.

In the final, the 3rd-seeded Barrie North CI Vikings defeated 4th-seeded Windsor St. Joseph’s Lasers 49-31. Derek Cotton led the Vikings with 17. Mike Galanopoulos paced the Lasers with 8. “I think we played our best game of the season this morning, but we had nothing left for the second one,” assistant coach Nello Paolini told the Windsor Star. “Barrie goes something like six-foot-eight, six-foot-eight, six-foot-seven across their front line and they just banged us around inside and controlled the boards. Beating the favorites in their own gym earlier was such an emotional experience and I just don’t think they had anything left to give.” The Vikings broke to a 32-13 lead at the half and were never threatened. “It’s hard to convince them right now but winning a silver medal is nothing to be ashamed of. But you know kids, once they get a taste of the gold, that’s all they want.”
