The Norquay Nikes nipped the host Davidson Raiders 43-42 after taking the lead for the first time with seven seconds to play. Davidson maintained a 10-point lead for most of the affair but fell apart when Ashley Lockwood fouled out, setting the stage for Kristen Belous to hit several critical buckets down the stretch.
In the last quarterfinal, the 2nd-seeded Canora Cougars defeated the Southey Screaming Eagles 53-38. Southey led 12-6 after the first quarter but Canora moved ahead 34-22 at the half. Roxanne Olynyk paced Canora with 18 points. Stacey Kobelka added 14 and April Fullawka added 12. Kellsey Calhoon paced Southey with 22. Jenna Palmer added 9.
In the semi-finals, the Foam Lake Panthers whipped the Turtleford Titans 68-40 as Carlli Anderson scored 24 and Jade Pickering 16. Foam Lake broke open a tight defensive affair in the second half. Meachel Carnahan led Turtleford with 20. Tessa Weeksa added 11. Carlli Anderson scored inside and outside, found teammates for easy buckets and looked like a quarterback on a difficult full-court pass that paid off at the end of the third quarter. “We’re pretty confident, but we’ll have to play well to win it,” said Anderson, who scored 24 points.
In the other semi, the Norquay Nikes edged the 2nd-seeded Canora Cougars 41-37. Canora led 10-9 after one quarter. The score was knotted at 17 at the half. Canora led 29-26 after three quarters.
