In the quarterfinals, the Kinistino R.J. Humphrey Blues whipped the Turtleford Titans 113-63. The Blues took a 15-2 lead and were never threatened.
The Davidson Raiders defeated the Preeceville Panthers 50-44. Davidson took an early five-point lead and then extended it to 15 in the third quarter. Although rallied to within six down the stretch, Davidson held on for the win.
The Foam Lake Panthers defeated the Dalmeny Cougars 71-48 as Carlli Anderson scored 27, Jade Pickering 9 and Therese Borger 9. Cheryl Lyenhorst led Dalmeny with 19.
The Hague Panthers edged the Southey Screaming Eagles 52-51. Southey led for the entire affair until the final five minutes when Hague inched ahead. Southey hit a trey at the buzzer to trim the final margin to one.
In the semis, the Kinistino R.J. Humphrey Blues defeated the Davidson Raiders 69-55 as Jenna Holmquist scored 19. Andrie Poncelet added 13 and played stellar defence. Ashley McNabb led Davidson with 12.
In the other semi, the Foam Lake Panthers defeated the Hague Panthers 70-58 as Carlli Anderson scored 26. Michelle Houle led Hague with 21.
In the bronze medal match, the Davidson Raiders defeated the Hague Panthers 55-50 as Tera McJannet scored 14. Jaime Fehr led Hague with 28. The game was tight until the final minutes when the Raiders built a five-point lead.
In the final, the Kinistino R.J. Humphrey Blues conquered the Foam Lake Panthers 63-37. Kinistino took command in the second quarter as Jenna Holmquist dominated the paint. The Panthers never threatened. The defending champs started slowly but eventually pulled away. “When our shots started to gall, that’s our game,” said coach Dale Friesen. “We relaxed and things got going.” Holmquist led the Blues with 22. Carlii Anderson led Foam Lake with 12.
