        In the semis, the top-seeded Lumsden Angels clocked the 4th-seeded Caronport Cougars 64-39. “Lumsden is ranked No. 1 and we knew it would be a tough match. We knew to beat them we would have to be firing on all cylinders. I think the girls were overwhelmed. For a couple of them this is their first experience at Hoopla and they were very nervous,” said Cougars coach Leigh Wolverton.

        In the other semi, the 3rd-seeded Clavet Cougars stunned the 2nd-seeded Indian Head Broncos 52-46. Talita Wharton paced the Cougars with 13. Jillian Ehman and Sydney Thiesson each added 8. Madison Elliot led the Broncos with 10. Patricia Milligan and Sherry Hahn each added 7.

        In the bronze medal match, the 4th-seeded Caronport Cougars edged the 2nd-seeded Indian Head Broncos 58-53. The Broncos led 24-22 at the half. The score was knotted at 38 after three quarters. “Bronze is an interesting medal because you come away with a win. If you get to the final and don’t win, you lose gold and get silver. So if you win gold or bronze you win your last game,” said Cougars coach Leigh Wolverton. “It was nice. The girls were really happy. The way they finished and regrouped after (Friday) night’s performance was really good. We were able to regroup (from the semi-final loss) and we felt like we had nothing to lose. The girls played more like themselves. They played well.” Emilie Peters, Lauren Janzen and Kenedee Charuk each scored 12 to the lead the Cougars. Sherry Hahn paced the Broncos with 20.
