 In the quarterfinals, the Birch Hills Marauders dumped the Shaunavon Silhouettes 60-48 after leading 29-24 at the half. Kelsie Bastura paced Shaunavon with 23. Rachel Lewans added 11 and Brittany Cazakoff 8. Whitney Stobbs paced Birch Hills with 14. Amy Braaten added 12 and Rachel Tilford 11. The Marauders took a lead early and got more confident as the game went on. The players were aggressive on offence, and smothering on defence. Birch Hills led the champs 29-24 at half-time. “The girls realized if we can be leading after one half, why not after the game?” coach Ken Morrison told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix. Every time Shaunavon tried to make a run, the Marauders stuffed them. Whitney Stobbs, the Marauders’ leading scorer all season, came through with 14 points. Amy Braaten, the team’s top perimeter shooter, added 12. Point guard Rachel Tilford set up her teammates and added 11 points. “It was one of our best games of the year,” said Morrison. “They were pretty ecstatic with it.”

The Outlook L.C.B.I. Lady Bisons defeated the Indian Head Broncos 54-46. LCBI led 13-12 after one quarter but trailed 29-26 at the half and 44-35 after three quarters. Shaeline Wig led LCBI with 16. Afton Sielski added 14. Michelle Alspach led Indian Head with 18. Janine Alspach added 13. The Broncs also included Gabby Gheysson.

 The Outlook Blues spanked the Wynyard Bears 55-35 after leading 26-17 at the half. Janine Brown paced Outlook with 16. Meryl Jordan led Wynyard with 19. The Bears also included Brandi Rink.

In the last quarterfinal, the Wilcox Athol Murray College of Notre Dame Hounds nipped the Clavet Cougars 66-65.

In the semis, the Outlook L.C.B.I. Lady Bisons edged the Birch Hills Marauders 70-67 in overtime as Susan Akre hit a three-point bank shot with 37 seconds remaining in overtime off a set play that had been designed to get the ball to Afton Sielski in the post. Sielski was double-teamed and her shot blocked, into the hands of Akre. “It’s better to win than lose,” she wryly later noted to the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix. OCBI had trailed 27-24 at the half but took a 10-point lead three minutes into the fourth quarter. But Birch Hills rallied with a 10-0 run. Christie Anne McCullough paced the Lady Bisons with 25 before fouling out in a battle with Birch Hills post Megan Manson. Sielski added 20, including a free throw that made it 58-58 with a minute to play. Lauren Mills forced overtime with a pair of free throws for Birch Hills with 30 seconds on the clock. In overtime, Birch Hills moved ahead 63-59 before Whitney Stobbs, who scored 25, fouled out. LCBI promptly tied it at 65 and then took command when point guard Rachel Tilford fouled out for Birch Hills. After Akre hit the winning layup, Jenna Johnson added an insurance free throw. “We wanted this one pretty bad,” said Akre.

In the other semi, the Wilcox Athol Murray College of Notre Dame Hounds defeated the Outlook Blues 53-42 as Drew Coonfer-Nelson scored 14. Janine Brown paced the Blues with 12.

In the bronze medal match, the Outlook Blues defeated the Birch Hills Marauders 53-50 as Janine Brown scored 20. Amy Braaten led the Marauders with 14. The Marauders (coached by Ken Morrison) also included Whitney Stobbs, Rachel Tilford.

 In the final, the Outlook L.C.B.I. Lady Bisons defeated the Wilcox Athol Murray College of Notre Dame Hounds 54-47. LCBI led at the half but the Hounds rallied to knot the score at 35 after three quarters. Outlook took control with a 7-0 run down the stretch. Afton Sielski led LCBI with 18. Drew Coonfer-Nelson paced the Hounds with 10. “It’s a great feeling, not just for us as a team, but for the whole school,” Sielski told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix. “We went into the game just happy to be here. We wanted to have fun and whatever happened, happened. There was never any panic. We stayed confident the whole time.”
