Originally, the division was known as the “B’ division for communities with a population under 5,000. But in 1960, a C division was added. A competition was limited to schools in communities with a population over 40,000. B schools were designated as those in communities with over a population greater than but less than 40,000. C schools were designated as those in communities with a population under 5000. As of 2017 reclassification, the division was designated for schools with 30 or fewer males in grades 10-12.
