The Marauders led 45-39 at the half but the Cougars rallied to knot the score and the teams traded the lead before Dalmeny pulled out the win down the stretch. Terrell Murdaugh led the Cougars with 29. Jared Wicks paced the Marauders with 36.
In the semis, the Moosomin McNaughton Marquis edged the Clavet Cougars 79-72.
In the other semi, the Hudson Bay Riders edged the Dalmeny Cougars 76-74.
In the bronze medal match, the Dalmeny Cougars defeated the Clavet Cougars 81-75 as Terrell Murdaugh scored 34. Ryan Dickson led Clavet with 25. The Clavet Cougars (coached by Paul McTavish, assisted by Claire McTavish) also included Joel Beresh, Tom Blahun, Zach McTavish, Ryan Ekdahl, Matthew Lux, Nigel Lendsay, Wes Perehudoff, Brandon Knull, Austin Hanus, Chris Beresh, Brody Senger, Devan Reddick and Drew Fitzgerald.
In the final, the Hudson Bay Riders edged the Moosomin McNaughton Marquis 71-70 after leading 32-30 at the half. Steven Bernard paced the Riders with 18. Matt Auger added 16. Matt Kerkhoff led the Marquis with 21. Parker Gourlay added 19. The Riders gave coach Gene Hauta the best retirement gift he could ask for. In his 25th year coaching at Hudson Bay and 34th year as a teacher at the school, Hauta is retiring in June. “Maybe we were a team of fate, I don’t know,” said Hauta. “These boys just refused to lose.”
