        In the quarterfinals, the top-seeded Shaunavon Shadows defeated the Regina Usher Unicorns 96-86 as Carter Vause scored 40. Ayad Badi led the Unicorns with 22. The Shadows jumped out to a 19-15 lead after a quarter and extended it to 15 in the second but the Unicorns rallied to within nine. The Shadows’ Carter Vause drained a 3 pointer at the buzzer to give the Shadows a 49-37 lead at the half. The Unicorns again clawed back in the second half. The Shadows gave up their 12-point half time lead and with less than 4 minutes left in the third, the Unicorns took the lead 56-55. However, the Shadows were able to escape the third with some timely 3 pointers. Score after the third was 67-65 in favor of the Shadows. The fourth quarter was a back and forth battle, with the lead changing hands a number of times. Usher led by as many as 5 points however the Shadows kept fighting back. The Shadows tied it up with a couple of minutes left and didn’t look back from there. Leading by two with a minute left, the Shadows scored 8 unanswered points. The Unicorns also included Jason Bien, Jordan Fontaine, Braeden Moskowy, Brendan Eashappie.

        The 4th-seeded Moosomin McNaughton Marquis clipped the Unity Warriors 80-51 as Lucas Johnson scored 24, Matt Lecomte 11, Colby Davidson 11 and Ian Glasser 11. Benton Gieni paced Unity with 21. Jody McCubbing added 9. Moosomin led 37-28 at the half.

        The 2nd-seeded Clavet Cougars crushed the Warman Wolverines 85-35 as Brad Blahun scored 12. Kris Polimac led Warman with 8.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Assiniboia Rockets edged the Lumsden Devils 51-48. Assiniboia led 18-8, 32-23 and 47-28 at the quarters but Lumsden rallied in the fourth behind the three-point shooting of Jon Forbes. Lumsden had a chance to tie with five seconds on the clock but the shot fell short. Carter Lewis paced the Rockets with 19. Will Richards added 14. Jon Forbes led the Devils with 17. The Devils also included Jason Koszman, Eric Gyug.

        In the semis, the Assiniboia Rockets defeated the 2nd-seeded and three-time defending champ Clavet Cougars 69-63 as Will Richards scored 21 and Cade Bergeron 20. Josh Kochan led Clavet with 17. Brad Blahun added 17. “We just weren’t a basketball school, but about 11 years ago we started to get out into the province and travel a lot,” Rockets coach Brent Chadwick told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix. “The last six or seven years we’ve been close, but now we have a program where we can do it.” The Rockets launched an early and sustained assault on the Cougars. “We came out in the first half and I don’t think I’ve ever seen the kids that excited,” said Chadwick. “We got things moving, our offence worked and we pretty much held them down.” Assiniboia led by 18 points at one point in the third quarter before the Cougars mounted a nearly successful comeback. “Clavet showed their true stripes and decided that they weren’t going to go out without a fight,” said Chadwick. “Brad Blahun started hitting three, and what do we with that?” Blahun finished with 17 points.

        In the other semi, the top-seeded Shaunavon Shadows defeated the 4th-seeded Moosomin McNaughton Marquis 69-59. Dane Morstad scored 26 points for Shaunavon. Kurtis Thompson led Moosomin with 14 points.

        In the bronze medal match, the Moosomin McNaughton Marquis dumped the 2nd-seeded Clavet Cougars 63-55 as Lucas Johnson scored 16 and Matt Lecomte 13. Brad Blahun paced Clavet with 22. Damen Goodsman added 14. The Cougars (coached by Kathy Maki) also included Dylan Kochan, Daniel Cox, Curt Menz, Matt Harder, Jordan Goldade, Brett Lendsay, Josh Kochan, Dylan Dickson, Joel Haight, Michael Lux, Eric Brenna and Landon Krahn.

        In the final, the Assiniboia Rockets clipped the top-seeded Shaunavon Shadows 66-49. “We wanted it so bad, because this is the first time we’ve ever won it in Assiniboia,” said Rockets captain Cade Bergeron. “It means a lot to us.” The Rockets came out fired up. “We came out running,” said Bergeron. “We wanted it so bad.” The Rockets’ height advantage and gritty play set the tone. They dominated the boards, converted lay-up after lay-up and blocked a bushel of shots. “They shoot threes, we don’t,” said Rockets coach Brent Chadwick. “We have to grind, go to the hole and rebound.” Assiniboia led 34-14 at half time. The smooth shooting of the Shadows began to click in the third. “Carter Vause came alive in the second half and gave us fits,” said Chadwick. “They got it back to nine after we were up 20.” Vause led the Shadows’ offensive triple threat. Vause, with 18 points, Dane Morstad, with 16, and Tyler Sonen, with 15, accounted for all of Shaunavon’s scoring. The Rockets regained their composure and put the finishing touches on the win. “The kids shot well, they worked hard and we went 10 deep off the bench,” said Chadwick. “What more could we ask?” Bergeron and Will Richards led the Rockets with 16 points each. “This was my last game and we won the big championship,” said Bergeron. “It feels good.” Cade Bergeron and Will Richards each scored 16 for the Rockets.
