In the semis, the top-seeded Fort Qu’Appelle Bert Fox Lakers defeated the 4th-seeded Clavet Cougars 58-50. The Lakers took an early lead but Todd Glemser hit a bucket at the buzzer to rally the Cougars within one after one quarter. The Lakers extended their lead to 31-17 at the half. Brian Thode hit several treys as the Cougars rallied to within eight in the second half but the Lakers were never seriously threatened. Chris Mish paced Fort Qu’Appelle with 20. Chris Lee-Nelson led the Cougars with 18.
In the other semi, the 3rd-seeded Indian Head Broncos edged the 2nd-seeded Saskatoon Christian Centre Academy Cougars 67-63. Indian Head trailed until the end of the third quarter when Jason Coghill drilled a long bomb to knot the score and alter that all-too precious momentum. Chris Benz led Indian Head with 23. Justin Strom paced Christian Centre Academy with 18.
In the bronze medal match, the 2nd-seeded Saskatoon Christian Centre Academy Cougars dumped the Clavet Cougars 72-59. The Eagles led from start to finish. Daniel Carreiro and Justin Strom each scored 19 to pace CCA. Todd Glemser led Clavet with 36.
In the final, the top-seeded Fort Qu’Appelle Bert Fox Lakers clipped the 3rd-seeded Indian Head Broncs 72-60. Fort Qu’Appelle led 26-12 after one quarter and sailed to the win. Indian Head got no closer than 11 in the second half. “It’s almost incredible,” said guard Kenton McDonald, who scored 19. “It’s so great to win again. It’ll really sink in when we’re back at school.” Chris Benz led Indian Head with 18.
