In the 5th-place playoff, the University of Regina Cougettes dispatched the Winnipeg St. Vital Grads 61-55. The Cougettes (coached by Sue Higgs) included Linda Vail. The Grads (coached by Jerry Ilchyna, managed by Gerry Ilchyna and Al Crockett) included Diane Osterveen, Pati Marcyshyn, Allison Parkhurst, Leslie Divers, Julie Osachuk, Bonnie Gabbs, Barb Burgess, Virginia Brown, Elaine Zushman, Carol Ruff, Anne Fenety and Margaret Hoff.
In the bronze medal match, Fredericton T & E’s defeated the Burlington Bobcats 63-57 as Karen Lee and Joyce Douthwright each scored 22. Pat Tatham paced Ontario with 24. Candy Clarkson added 11. The Bobcats (coach Earl Begg) also included Joan Parker, Sue Lindley, Lindy Millen, Chuckie Goodchild, Bev Warner, Sue Tupling, Melanie Armstrong, Judy Halaiko, Cheryl Clarke, Sharon Newman (Naumann?) Debbie Armstrong and Barbara Sellers.
In the final, the Vancouver Buzz Bombs repeated as champs by defeating the Montreal Station 10 Riders 63-43 for fifth straight win of the draw. BC led 32-27 at the half. Coach Ruth Wilson said her team experience in national and international tournaments was the biggest factor. Quebec coach Steve Konchalski agreed. Joanne Barnes and Bev Barnes each scored 20 for BC. Terry McGovern added 12. Sylvia Sweeney paced Quebec with 21. Point guard Joanne Sargeant controlled the tempo perfectly. The Buzz Bombs opened the second half with a 16-0 run.
